Teresa Tilley

Being raised on the backwaters of the Chesapeake Bay instilled a longing to explore and a need to record my interpretation of the ocean and its treasures. Both grandmothers and my dear Aunt Mollie passed down a love of flowers and gardening that have been my inspiration for painting contemporary florals and whimsical critters. I have lived most of my adult life in Southwest VA and also paint abstract images of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

My art career began with hand colored and black and white photography which led me to a desire to paint in watercolor and acrylics. I attended photography and design classes at Virginia Intermont College, which assisted me with my technical knowledge of light, contrast, values and composition within an image. I was employed at The Art League in Old Town Alexandria, VA as the Assistant Gallery Director, which gave me an abundance of inspiration to continue painting. I now live on Harbour Island in South Tampa, FL and I am currently working on abstract paintings. I mainly show my work with Howard Alan Art Festivals. You can find their calendar on Artfestival.com.
